Privacy Policy

Atheria is a family of privacy-first apps: Atheria: Living Wallpapers for macOS and Atheria: Generative Art for iPhone and iPad. Both apps run entirely on your device: they have no user accounts, no servers, and do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.

What we collect

Nothing. Atheria does not collect or transmit any personal data. It does not require an account, sign-in, email address, or any personal information to use.

On-device only

Everything Atheria does happens locally on your device:

• Your wallpapers and videos. The images and video files you choose stay on your device. Atheria accesses them only to display them, using macOS security-scoped bookmarks so it can reopen the files you selected. They are never uploaded anywhere.
• Preferences. Your settings (such as shader options, schedules, and display preferences) are stored locally on your device.
• Your creations (iOS). Flames, archetypes, and shaders you make in Atheria: Generative Art are stored on your device. Share codes are plain text that leaves your device only when you choose to share them, through the channel you pick. Handoff between your own devices is provided by Apple and happens directly between them.
• Quiet While You Work (macOS). If you turn this on, Atheria checks which app is in front so it can quiet the wallpaper for the apps you chose. The list of apps you pick is stored on your Mac. Atheria does not record what you do in those apps, does not keep any history of which apps you used, and nothing about this leaves your device.
• Smart tagging. To help you organize and search your library, Atheria can suggest tags for a wallpaper by analyzing its thumbnail with Apple's on-device Vision framework. This happens entirely on your Mac. No images, thumbnails, or tags are ever sent to us or to any third party.

Permissions

Atheria does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, or screen recording, and never reads your photo library. On iOS, if you choose Save Image when sharing a creation, the system asks permission to add that one image to your Photos library; that is the only Photos access the app has. Both apps run within Apple's App Sandbox.

Purchases

Atheria: Generative Art is free and has no purchases. Atheria Pro on macOS is an optional, one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment and receipt validation; Atheria never receives or stores your payment details. Apple's handling of purchases is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Third parties

The Atheria app shares no data with third parties, because it collects none. (This website, atheria.app, may use privacy-friendly, anonymous analytics to understand visits. This is separate from the app and never linked to any in-app activity.)

Children

Atheria is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Data retention and deletion

Because Atheria collects nothing and stores everything on your device, you stay in full control of your data. Your preferences, creations, and the file bookmarks you create remain on your device only until you change or remove them. To erase all of Atheria's data, delete the app: the system removes its settings, creations, bookmarks, and any cached tags along with it. There is no account to close and no server-side data to request or delete, because none is ever collected or transmitted. You can also revoke Atheria's access to any file at any time through macOS.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
